[Oh hey, coloring class buddy doing homework! Mandricardo is pretty good at coloring, but now he's glancing over at Malik's work...and nodding approvingly.]

Ah. So you color like that, huh...

[ Malik has been very, very methodically coloring in a picture of a bird. It's yellow. Not differing shades of yellow, just. The entire thing is a single shade of yellow. ]

I don't have particularly strong feelings about colors in general.

Still, if you like one color...I suppose that works. Professor Blue would still approve.

[He's looking at his picture of a sheep in a meadow which is...colored accordingly! Not very exciting, but hey.]

Is everyone here interested in colors? Are you going to ask me my favorite color too?

[ he's just kind of confused?? this is the second person to ask him about colors today. ]

[He looks confused.]

I was just worrying if I'm like. Doing this correctly. It seems too simple somehow.

Well... have you stayed inside the lines? As long as you follow instructions, you should have nothing to worry about... Unless you weren't suppose to color outside of the sheep at all...?

[ does coloring grass technically count as inside or outside of the lines??? ]

[Here comes Mandricardo! He's....surprisingly just very calm, holding a cup of hot chocolate as he walks along. When he sees Malik in front of spring dorm, he stops.]

...Hey. [Just blinking, before giving a wave.] What are you doin' out here?

[ he is a lot calmer than whatever the hell happened at investigation. he's just vibing. ]

I think Sakyou might still be drunk, so I'm just getting some air.

Oh, is he? [Sippp.] I didn't take you as the type unable to deal with that stuff.

It's more... for his sake, I think.

I'm not sure if anyone else is in there, and I don't really like dealing with them when they're sad anyway.

[duranduel]

Oh, they're sad?

[He almost asks this curiously, like he isn't really expecting it.]

...Well, that's good of you, I think.

[godcards]

They usually get sad on Fridays, so I'm just expecting it as much... It's not necessarily about being good, it's about being comfortable.

[duranduel]

Are you not sad?

[ he considers this for a second. ]

Hm, not really. Should I be?

Hm. I think people get sad usually on Fridays? Because people are dead.

[godcards]

That's true... but this has been happening regularly every week, so it's not really a surprise anymore. Hard to be sad when you know what to expect.

[duranduel]

Death is death. I guess its only right for people to get emotional when that happens, even if they're expecting it.

[A shrug.]

Also has to do with people who are close to you, I feel? Something like that.

That's why it's better to not get too close to anyone. You wouldn't want to be devastated week after week, would you? Emotional people are miserable and unpredictable.

They are? I see.

[He's replying like he's hearing of this for the first time.]

So you've been doing well, then. Since you're not too close to anyone.

More or less. Death is just another aspect of life, anyway. It happens. If people really wanted to care, they should make their peace with it and move on for the sake of the dead. They're already moving on, so why not everyone else?

[duranduel]

That's an interesting way of seeing it.

So, if you died, we should just all move on without a care in the world?

[godcards]

...I think that's for the best, yes.

[ except his emotional dissonance is calming down, and hm, he kind of doesn't like that? don't make him actually consider his feelings, mandricardo. ]

Besides, I'm not close to anyone here. Why would anyone stop and grieve? It's to be expected that would be the case if, say, your family died... but we've only been here for several weeks, and that's not nearly long enough for it to matter in the grand scheme of things. After my death, the most important thing is burial rites so my soul could make it to the afterworld... but since I can't be buried in Egypt, I'm doomed anyway.

[ waves a hand dismissively so he can DISMISS THESE FEELINGS ]

It's something I've accepted, as unfortunate as it is.

[consider your feelings while mandricardo just stares at u like a vaguely interested therapist]

...Egypt...I see. Burial rites are important. To store the soul, in its own way. So here, it would just mean that dying would be a total and complete end.

[Wow.]

But even without burial rites...sure memories could take the place of that? After all, they say that some people live on in the thoughts of others.

That might be true, to a degree... but even that has rituals, offerings-- things like that, that need to be considered. Memorials only go so far without someone to tend to them. And then those people die, and there's nothing to replace them...

I'd rather have a decent afterlife.

[duranduel]

What guarantees a decent afterlife? In Christianity, I think, its like. Doing good deeds. But what about in Egypt?
